| 释义 | foreground/background modesPertaining to a system in which programs are executed in two modes, foreground and background. Foreground programs are executed interactively under user control. Users maintain complete control over editing, execution, inputs, outputs and other program functions. While monitoring the system programs, the microcomputer is said to be in foreground mode. All foreground mode operations are initiated by interrupts. Programs in the background are executed on the basis of time available to the computer system. The microcomputer is often idle 80% of the time, so operators will use it during its idle time for operations wholly unrelated to regular work. All required execution data is setup prior to submitting the job for execution. Users refer to these secondary programs as operating in the background mode.
