Clinical manifestations include progressive weakness,atrophy,FASCICULATION,hyperreflexia,DYSARTHRIA,dysphagia,and eventual paralysis of respiratory function. Pathologic features include the replacement of motor neurons with fibrous ASTROCYTES and atrophy of anterior SPINAL NERVE ROOTS and corticospinal tracts.
